YOU HAVE BEEN INJURED…

If you have been injured, a medical report will need to be obtained and in due course a personal injury claim will have to be submitted to the Injuries Board.

WHAT IS THE INJURIES BOARD?

The Injuries Board (formerly known as the Personal Injuries Assessment Board P.I.A.B) is an independent body, which has been set up to assess the level of compensation to a person who has sustained injuries as a result of an accident.

The Injuries Board deals with assessment claims. They rely solely on the relevant forms that are submitted together with medical reports. They deal with motor claims, accidents at work and public liability claims.

A claim for personal injuries must be taken within 2 years of the date of the accident.  The relevant paperwork is submitted and lodged with the Board together with a medical report from your doctor or hospital and the appropriate fee.  Once the claim is registered, the Statute of Limitations is stopped.  All documentation is then sent by the Injuries Board to the relevant insurance company or party requesting their consent to the Board making an assessment for damages.
